Inaugural Exhibition Designers and Colorists

Galeria Luisa Strina reopens its new space on March 5 with the exhibition Desenhistas e Coloristas. After eight months of renovation, Luisa Strina and the architect Isay Weinfeld present the new facilities of the gallery that will now have three exhibition spaces: a room on Floor I, a room for video presentations and special projects, and a terrace for sculptures in the third floor.

Exhibition: The curatorship opposes the two classic procedures in the creation of the work of art. On the one hand the artists who carry out the work completely in the project: the designers. On the other, those who create in the concrete clash with matter: the colorists. Does the opposition that structured academic thinking, from its beginnings, up to the modernist avant-garde, remain an axis of meaning for the interpretation of contemporary art? The exhibition will use works by the artists represented by Galeria Luisa Strina to propose a research situation. The exhibition will take all the spaces of the Gallery. On the first floor the Brazilian artists will be presented and the curatorial axis will be developed with them. On the second floor pieces by international artists will be exhibited and in the third there will be a video art show. Outdoor sculptures will be shown on the terrace.

Represented artists: Keila Alaver, Caetano de Almeida, Dora Longo Bahia, Artur Barrio, Alexandre da Cunha, Wim Delvoye, Antonio Dias, Marcius Galan, Fernanda Gomes, Jenny Holzer, Tonico Lemos, Marepe, Gilberto Mariotti, Cildo Meireles, Tracey Moffatt, Muntadas, Emmanuel Nassar, Vardirlei Dias Nunes, Adriano Pedrosa, Marina Saleme, Edgard de Souza and Sandra Tucci.
