Renata's Lucas practice is largely focused on temporary interventions into built environments, pushing the delineated boundaries of architectural and urban space, asking questions about how our day-to-day lives and social behaviour are affected by the spaces that surround us. Lucas breaks up the standard and expected forms of everyday surfaces and structures, offering alternative perspectives and pathways for those who encounter her work. Renata Lucas's installations and spatial interventions radically and playfully subvert the routes and approaches laid out for us by architects, planners, property owners and developers, and others whose authority define our movements and sense of place. In each of her projects, Renata Lucas begins with a personal investigation of the chosen site. She is currently working in a project with Dia Foundation and a Residency at Estancia FEMSA Casa Barragán, City of Mexico.
